What digital platforms are students currently using to develop their professional network?
There’re several platforms that students are able to use to develop their professional networks. Twitter is widely used for professional networking. Students can follow industry influencers, engage in conversations using relevant hashtags, and share their own insights and ideas to connect with professionals in their desired fields. Moreover, collaboration platforms such as Microsoft Teams and Discord are popular with students. Those platforms allow students to join relevant channels or groups to connect with peers and engage in discussions.
What could the student consider in expanding their professional learning network?
At first, students should define goals and interests. Identify the industries, fields, or specific areas of expertise that you want to explore or gain knowledge in. Having a clear focus will help you target the right individuals and communities. Then, students need to learn how to utilize online communities and forums to engage their areas of interest. Actively participate in discussions, ask questions, and share your insights.
How does data privacy and security limit and/or promote a PLN?
limit: Restricted access to resources: Strict privacy settings or security measures can limit the sharing of valuable resources within a PLN. Participants may be cautious about sharing sensitive or copyrighted materials, leading to a reduction in knowledge exchange and collaboration.
Promotion: Safe environment for collaboration: Adequate data security measures create a safe environment for collaboration within a PLN. Participants can freely exchange ideas, provide feedback, and engage in meaningful discussions, knowing their contributions are protected from unauthorized access or misuse.
In your network how can you create a digital identity/ reputation?
Ensure that students’ profiles on professional networking platforms, such as Twitter, are complete, up-to-date, and aligned with your personal branding. Use a professional profile picture, write a compelling summary, and highlight your skills, experiences, and achievements.

I have a small note regarding your map. you said that twitter is using to expand the professional network but in the map you put twitter in the personal section . otherwise I agree with your answers.

Hi friend,
Thanks for your mention. I just noticed that mistake, lol.
As a platform, Twitter has a wide range of uses. I prefer to use Twitter to expand my professional network instead putting my info on it.
I already updated the new figure on blog 2.
Thanks again!

Hi, Rick
I agree that students should first define their goals and interests. Being clear about goals and interests can help students choose more specifically the industries, fields, or areas of expertise, and it better allows them to meet their learning goals and needs.

Thank you for taking time to read my blog. Interest is the best teacher, PLNs can help students to find their own interest, and it will promote them to get the knowledge which they want quickly.
